exacqVision was on display last week at tradeshows both to the north of us at Security Canada in Laval, and to the south of us at Expo Seguridad in Mexico City. Our representatives for both countries were there and each gave us a brief report.
Expo Seguridad Mexico
April 22-24, 2008, Centro Banamex, Mexico City
Our Representative for Mexico, Raul Rodriguez of AccessGard, was exhibiting the exacqVision product in the Syestel booth at last week’s show in Mexico City. This is the largest physical security tradeshow in Mexico, and Syestel is one of the larger security integrators in Mexico, concentrating primarily on the banking sector. Raul and the folks at Syestel reported high traffic in the booth with great interest in exacqVision due to: 1) digital PTZ, 2) hybrid capability, 3) unlimited number of clients, 4) ease of use, 5) friendly search feature, and 6) easy creation of .exe files with search results. Our thanks to both AccessGard and Syestel for a successful show.
Security Canada East
April 23, 2008, Laval QC
Our Manufacturers Rep for Canada, Tony Williams of Security Central Marketing, was at the first of this year’s regional Security Canada shows. He said attendance turnout for this year’s Quebec show was almost double that of last year, owing in part to a change of venue from Montreal to Laval. He also reported high traffic at the booth, and of interest in the exacqVision product said, "The attendees at the show were very impressed with the ease-of-use, low cost, and vast IP camera support of exacqVision. The fact that we have every solution covered, including hybrids, software only, IP servers, and Windows, Linux, and Mac clients also made quite an impression!" Tony will be exhibiting again at Security Canada West on June, 11, 2008, in Richmond, BC.

The SecurityDreamer blog hosted a by-invitation-only seminar yesterday at ISC West entitled The Future of Video Surveillance. Steve Hunt, of Hunt Business Intelligence, and proprietor of the SecurityDreamer blog, chose 32 vendors exhibiting at ISC to highlight as having unique technology, products and market approach. Steve talks about the seminar here and here.
Exacq Technologies was one of the 32 companies highlighted yesterday. An annotated walking tour show floor map was given to the 60 attendees with questions to ask or products to view at each of the featured companies. From the intro on the handout:
SecurityDreamer appreciates those who make waves in the industry. We recognize companies that are constantly challenging themselves and creating a competitive landscape. This year we thought we’d put our opinions to good use. Among the vendors in the video surveillance arena, we’ve chosen some that deserve extra attention.
What were our criteria? First of all, no money changed hands. We selected companies we’ve heard of and in most cases have first-hand experience with. In some cases we know the customers. In others we’ve spent time with the executive team. The products we chose all use computers, software and networking in creative and forward-thinking ways. Every company has a product or customer success story that stands out. Above all every company has a product or a service that the Hunt BI team feels creates a better future for the surveillance industry.
We are flattered and certainly appreciative that Exacq was chosen as one of the highlighted companies in this seminar. We were in great company; other vendors chosen included IQinVision, ioimage, Axis, Cisco, Intransa, among others. We enjoyed meeting many of the seminar attendees who made their way to our booth yesterday, and we look forward to meeting even more today.
Our sincere thanks to Steve Hunt and the SecurityDreamer blog team for this recognition.

The annual New Security trade show, held at the De Montil in Affligem, Belgium, ended today. Our Belgian distributor, Custos, had a booth where they were showing the exacqVision NVR video surveillance product line, along with megapixel cameras from Arecont Vision and IP transmission devices from Veracity.
Luc de Cock, Managing Director of Custos, told us, “Your software was well received at the show. In the “exacqVision corner” of the booth we had an exacqVision Hybrid server on the left, an exacqVision IP NVR server on the right, and laptop running the exacqVision Client in between. The Hybrid NVR generated a great deal of interest.”
Our thanks to Luc for doing such a great job in promoting and supporting our products in Belgium. Custos can be reached as follows:

Once again we were exhibiting our exacqVision NVR product line at the BICSI Winter Conference, held in January in Orlando. This is the flagship North American event for BICSI’s 24,000 ITS designers, installers and integrators, combining training, RCDD certification, seminars, and a large expo floor.
We were part of the IPVS Magazine booth, along with Axis and Infinova. We’ve had a good association with BICSI. A common theme from BICSI members has been the rise in requests for IP video surveillance, and that side is increasingly being spec’d and installed by the BICSI designers and installers: the same people who spec and install the network and communications infrastructure. Our exacqVision Hybrid systems solution has been particularly popular in this area, as it allows for the leveraging of existing, legacy surveillance equipment with new and future purchases of IP video capability.
Our thanks again to Eric Moe of IPVS Magazine for another very well run booth. Our previous blog posts on BICSI can be found here. A listing of upcoming events where we will be exhibiting is here.

Our distributor for Australia, Zone Advanced Protection Systems, highlighted the exacqVision IP video surveillance products last week at the Australian Government’s Security in Government Conference 2007, held at the National Convention Centre in Canberra. This year was the 20th anniversary of the conference and the theme was The Future of Security.
Zone was showing a number of leading-edge physical security technologies and products. In addition to Exacq, Zone featured megapixel cameras from Arecont and Axis, IP video analytics cameras from ioimage, as well as their own Multi Sensor Control Platform (MSCP) and Zone IDV Bubble spatial video motion detection products. Matt Nolan of Zone APS (pictured below) said they had great traffic at the booth, and that the people were “blown away by the ease-of-use of the exacqVision video surveillance software and the quality of the megapixel images.”
Our congratulations to Zone for another successful show. Zone Advanced Protection Systems can be reached as follows:

The 11th annual China Public Security Expo was just held in Shenzhen, China. Our distributor for China, Tung Po, featured the exacqVision IP video surveillance systems connected to IP cameras from Arecont Vision and analog cameras from Pelco.
The reception by attendees was certainly enthusiastic. Kenny Leung of Tung Po relayed these comments:
There was excited feedback from China customers over the versatile software solution by exacqVision. They felt that the software and the hybrid server were an ideal solution to utilize existing analog camera systems and to transition into IP digital video cameras.
Our congratulations to the crew at Tung Po for their successful booth and our sincere appreciation for their efforts in promoting the exacqVision product line. Tung Po can be reached as follows:

We’ve been exhibiting at the big ASIS 2007 tradeshow in Las Vegas this week, which just ended yesterday. It has been a whirlwind of activity, and our booth was packed all three days.
We showed some new things:
Linux: we showed Linux versions of both exacqVision server and client software. We’ve been running Linux versions of our software internally and at some beta sites for many months with great success and we plan to release it in the November timeframe. The first distribution is Ubuntu 6.06. On the server side, you get identical exacqVision functionality and performance under both Windows and Linux. Windows clients can connect to both Windows and Linux servers. The Linux exacqVision client is virtually identical to the Windows version, save for some minor aesthetic differences between the two operating systems. The complete list of IP cameras we support are also fully supported in our Linux version.
The IP camera vendors, and many of our integrators, were very enthusiastic about the upcoming availability of Linux, as that is increasingly becoming a requirement.
Version 2.8: We showed the upcoming version 2.8 of exacqVision, which will be released in mid-October. Among other features, highlights of 2.8 we showed were Vivotek IP camera support; Zoom Box - instant zooming on a selected area; Drag-and-Drop, an enhance to the multiple monitor support that allows for seamless drag-and-drop of video cameras and other elements between screens, making for a more highly-integrated client.
Rep Meeting: We had a great meeting with our North American Manufacturers Rep firms, as well as some international distributors, Monday night at the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company. Good food, good beer, and an opportunity to discuss our product, sales and marketing plans for the next few months with them all. Thank you all for attending.
Exacq highlighted in Seminar: We certainly want to express our appreciation to Roy Bordes of The Bordes Group, a security consulting firm, for highlighting Exacq in his Tuesday seminar What’s New On The Floor 2007. We were one of about 15 vendors Roy featured for having new and innovative products.
Below are some pictures from our booth. More pictures are available here. ASIS moves to Atlanta next year, and we’ll be there.

We’re in the Security Operations Center (SOC) Pavilion at the combined ISC East / InfoSecurity shows in New York this week. The SOC Pavilion showcases the convergence of IT security and Physical Security, and is being organized by IPVS Magazine.
We’re showcasing the exacqVision IP video surveillance software, connected to many IP cameras in the Pavilion from Axis and other vendors. We’re using just a laptop as our server at this station. Since we take advantage of intelligence at the edge devices, such as motion detection at the camera end, our processor requirements at the server end are low, enabling more reliable and lower cost servers.
ISC East continues through Wednesday. If you’re attending the show, please stop by. Info on ISC East is here.

American Digital Security, an exacqVision integrator, was one of the exhibiting vendors at the American Correctional Association’s annual Congress of Corrections held earlier this week in Kansas City. Combining exacqVision IP video surveillance software and Arecont Vision megapixel IP cameras, ADS showed a unique and compelling solution for the security and surveillance needs of correctional facilities.
The ease of use of the exacqVision software was a big draw. exacqVision’s full remote capabilities due to the client-server architecture, the ability to have instant playback on any camera from the last few seconds or minutes with the exacqReplay feature, and the ability to add any number and type of cameras at any time without limitation were all of interest.
One of the unique exacqVision features for correctional facilities is the video block, in which selected areas of the video image can be blocked from viewing and recording, in parts of the facility where there are privacy mandates, such as lavatories.
The spectacular image quality of the Arecont Vision cameras showed the benefit of megapixel IP video: up to 7x resolution over analog cameras, and a substantially larger field of view. Arecont IP cameras can be easily installed wherever and whenever desired, with nothing more than a standard CAT-5 network connection required, due to their Power over Ethernet (POE) capability.
Showing the benefits of megapixel IP video, in the demos at their booth ADS was reading 1-inch text off of banners over 150 feet away. They were able to utilize the full capabilities of a 46-inch flat panel to show a megapixel camera image blown up to its full resolution in full-screen mode. As exacqVision can also accept analog cameras, an analog camera was also shown for comparison.
The ADS booth was the most crowded at the entire conference. Our sincere thanks to Buddy Mason of ADS and his crew, as well as Mike Hodor of Arecont Vision, for another successful event. ADS and Arecont Vision can be reached as follows:

Our representative for Australia, Zone Advanced Protection Systems had a booth at the big ASIAL Security 2007 trade show at the Sydney Convention Centre in Australia this week. They were showing their key product lines of exacqVision, ioimage, Sago, and IP cameras from Axis and Arecont Vision, among others.
Many prospects and customers stopped by the booth over the course of the three days of the show. Bill Nolan, the Managing Director of Zone, was certainly enthusiastic about how the show went:
“You guys as we have known from day one have designed a truly, impressive product and you and your crew are to be congratulated,” he told us. “It was a great show for us and you.“
Bill was particularly excited about sales closed at the show that involved exacqVision and megapixel IP cameras. With exacqVision software, you can have multiple views from a single camera, recorded and viewed independently, as if you had multiple cameras. In one case of an outdoor application, one of Zone’s customers has an Arecont 5 Mpixel camera aimed at a point of interest. In one view in the exacqVision IP software is the full wide shot from the camera, and in three other views are particular areas of interest that have been digitally zoomed in. This gives the user the capability of seeing multiple areas of interest simultaneously, as well as the whole view, recording them all independently as if they were separate cameras, but it is all done with one camera. This is a unique feature with exacqVision. This particular user has multiple outdoor sites, and is using multiple Arecont cameras in a similar manner.
Our congratulations to Bill and the crew at Zone for a great show, and our sincere thanks for their continued enthusiasm and support of our products. Zone can be contacted in Australia as follows:
