Version 4.1 of exacqVision Video Management Software has just been released. This latest release, compatible with all exacqVision Hybrid and IP video surveillance systems, incorporates new features and enhancements, and continues our quest for rapid, incremental updates.
Version 4.1 is available for download here. Key features in the 4.1 Release:
Serial Data over IP
Viasys Video Analytics Support
Serial Data export to ePlayer
Expanded PTZ functionality
Expanded Maps functionality
Support for new IP camera models from Arecont, Ganz, IQeye, and StarDot
Here are some of the features in detail:
Serial Data over IP Serial data can now be read over IP ports in addition to standard serial ports. A new window has been added to the Serial Port Setup page to configure the IP serial ports:
A close-up view of the IP Serial Setup window is here:
Up to 64 IP serial ports can be added per server, in addition to the standard RS-232 and RS-485 serial ports. IP serial port profiles are set up the same way as standard serial port profiles. Enabling serial over IP expands the ability of exacqVision servers to integrate with POS and ATM systems, access control systems, alarm systems, and video analytic systems, such as Viasys.
Viasys Video Analytics Support Viasys is a vendor of video analytics software that resides on the edge and runs on Axis IP cameras, on IQeye Pro-line IP cameras. As analytic events occur, ASCII data is sent over the IP port. Through the use of serial over IP, an exacqVision server can read the serial data from this network port, and trigger recording and other actions based on the associated analytic events.
Viasys routines include intruder detection, perimeter protection, and alarming, and include ability for Adaptive Outdoor Analytics, 3D Video-Awareness, Electronic Fence/Trip Wire, Directional Detection and Sabotage Detection.
In addition to edge analytics, Viasys software also runs on any exacqVision server, enabling full video analytics capability for all IP cameras supported in exacqVision, including Arecont Vision, ACTi, Panasonic, Vivotek, StarDot, and more.
You can download a fully-functioning 30-day trial of Viasys software here. Demo videos of Viasys in action are here.
Serial Data Export to ePlayer Serial data, whether from serial ports or IP ports, can now be fully exported along with associated video cameras. This export enables the serial data to scroll in real-time with what is happening on the cameras. As the video scrub bar is used to rapidly forward or reverse through video, the serial data scrolls rapidly as well; likewise as you rapidly scroll through serial data, the video stays in sync.
Here’s a sample screenshot of exported video and serial data in the ePlayer:
An exported clip of video and serial data in the ePlayer is available for download here 34.5 MB, requires reseller password

When is a quarter of a million dollars a bargain? When it pays for a comprehensive security solution that safeguards a fortune in gold, silver, platinum and palladium coins and bars. As one of the nation’s largest online retailers of precious metals, the American Precious Metals Exchange Inc. (APMEX) is understandably dead serious about security. Its recent move to the site of the former Federal Reserve Bank of Oklahoma City prompted an upgrade of the existing access control, burglary and CCTV systems.
APMEX security director Adrian Neal:
“We were looking for a state-of-the-art security system, access control system and CCTV system that would protect our employees and our inventory,” says Neal. “We also wanted a CCTV system that could be accessed via a secure Internet connection from anywhere. We believed a combination of these three components would provide complete protection for APMEX’s inventory.”
The building presented many installation challenges, including drilling through a three-foot-thick steel vault door, running all wiring in conduit, and a highly accelerated timeline amid inclement weather. STAMPSCO selected the equipment that would best suit the customer’s needs:
To provide a system that would meet the client’s needs and desires, was best suited for the application, and could be counted on for reliability and support, the integrator selected several well-known brands but also some impressive newer ones. The main vendors were: Honeywell, Exacq Technologies, Stardot, Hirsch Electronics and Dell.
“Hirsch and Exacq were instrumental in the project and made site visits to assist us with any issues. We used IP megapixel cameras specifically for better quality video with broader viewing capability. This reduced the number of analog cameras it would have taken to obtain the coverage needed, and gave us more flexibility with recording,” says Rodney Stamps. “We utilized Honeywell’s Vplex addressable technology to reduce the amount of wiring on the security system portion of the project.”
Three NVRs were installed in the basement’s video room and another upstairs in the control room. Control and storage is handled by exacqVision’s VMS and 16TB IP servers.
APMEX’ Adrian Neal was pleased with the outcome:
“We are very impressed. This state-of-the-art equipment provides peace of mind. We also enjoy the ability to have remote viewing of the facilities,” says Neal. “We are very happy with STAMPSCO’s work and all the equipment they installed. The security in this building now exceeds our wants and needs.”
Our congratulations to Rodney Stamps and the entire crew at STAMPSCO for this well-done installation! The full article can be read here.
ISC East wrapped up yesterday. By all accounts, it was a great show. Good selection of vendors, great educational sessions, and a lot of attendees. The attendance levels were commented on extensively in the trade media.
We were there showing the upcoming Version 3.7 of exacqVision software in the Winsted booth, and there were crowds in the booth both days, all day long. exacqVision was also being featured in other parts of the show, including the StarDot booth.
Geoff Kohl of SecurityInfoWatch.com came by and talked with us, and he featured Exacq in his extensive Podcast coverage of the ISC East show. We appreciate the complimentary things he had to say about us.

We have several exacqVision demo servers in place to help showcase the capabilities of the exacqVision software. These servers are widely used by us, by our resellers, and by many end-users to evaluate the software. Among the demo systems are are two Hybrid servers, one Linux and one Windows, each with a variety of analog, PTZ and IP cameras of all types and brands connected, as well as a number of IP camera brand-specific servers.
Recently we added a dedicated StarDot demo server, connected to a number of StarDot Technologies’ NetCam SC megapixel IP cameras. This server is located at StarDot’s headquarters in California. Four NetCam SC 1.3 megapixel cameras are currently connected, three outdoors and one indoors. Here’s a 2×2 view of the cameras on this server (click on picture for larger versions):
One of the more interesting camera views on this server is the one aimed at a clock with a finely detailed face. It is a great showcase for both megapixel IP camera image clarity, as well as the powerful Digital PTZ function of exacqVision. Below are screenshots of the clock in a 1×1 full view, and then doing a live digital PTZ (click on pictures for larger versions):
The StarDot server is up and ready to use. If you already have a login on our other demo servers, your same username and password will apply for the Stardot server. To add this server, just go to Add System in the Configuration tree, and enter the following:
- hostname: stardot.exacq.com - your username - your password
If you’d like to get a login to our demo servers, if need us to resend your login details, or if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
We’re pleased to announce support within exacqVision VMS software (version 3.3) for StarDot Technologies’ NetCam SC line of megapixel IP cameras.
