Sanyo HD IP Camera support exacqVision now supports the complete line of Sanyo High-Definition IP cameras. This new line of HD IP cameras consists of ten different models of box, vandal-resistant dome, PTZ and zoom cameras, with both full HD resolution at H.264 compression and MJPEG modes of up to 4 MP.
New Vivotek H.264 IP Camera Support Support has been added the the latest 8000-series from Vivotek, all of which incorporate H.264 video compression in addition to MPEG-4 and MJPEG modes.
Models currently in the Vivotek 8000-series line that are newly supported in version 4.2 include the IP8161 fixed camera, and the FD8133 and the FD8134 fixed dome cameras.
New Sony IP Camera Models support Support has been added for the latest models of HD IP cameras from Sony. These models are all 720P or 1080P and heature H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression.

New Columns: Additional new columns have been added on the My Systems page, providing more information about each server. The new columns are: MAC Address; Serial Number; Days of Recorded Video. The new screen looks like htis: click for a larger view
Just right-click on the columns header to add these three new columns:
Highlight & Export: In addition to the new columns, all information on the My Systems page can now be highlighted and copied to the clipboard for exporting to documents or spreadsheets, enabling easy enterprise reporting and tracking.

Serial Data over IP Serial data can now be read over IP ports in addition to standard serial ports. A new window has been added to the Serial Port Setup page to configure the IP serial ports:

Up to 64 IP serial ports can be added per server, in addition to the standard RS-232 and RS-485 serial ports. IP serial port profiles are set up the same way as standard serial port profiles. Enabling serial over IP expands the ability of exacqVision servers to integrate with POS and ATM systems, access control systems, alarm systems, and video analytic systems, such as Viasys.
Viasys Video Analytics Support Viasys is a vendor of video analytics software that resides on the edge and runs on Axis IP cameras, on IQeye Pro-line IP cameras. As analytic events occur, ASCII data is sent over the IP port. Through the use of serial over IP, an exacqVision server can read the serial data from this network port, and trigger recording and other actions based on the associated analytic events.
Viasys routines include intruder detection, perimeter protection, and alarming, and include ability for Adaptive Outdoor Analytics, 3D Video-Awareness, Electronic Fence/Trip Wire, Directional Detection and Sabotage Detection.
In addition to edge analytics, Viasys software also runs on any exacqVision server, enabling full video analytics capability for all IP cameras supported in exacqVision, including Arecont Vision, ACTi, Panasonic, Vivotek, StarDot, and more.

Serial Data Export to ePlayer Serial data, whether from serial ports or IP ports, can now be fully exported along with associated video cameras. This export enables the serial data to scroll in real-time with what is happening on the cameras. As the video scrub bar is used to rapidly forward or reverse through video, the serial data scrolls rapidly as well; likewise as you rapidly scroll through serial data, the video stays in sync.

Expanded PTZ Functionality With Version 4.1, additional commands have been added for mechanical PTZ cameras using the AD-422 and Pelco-D protocol, as well as for all analog and IP mechanical PTZ cameras.
Access PTZ Dome Menu – For Pelco and AD, you can now access the camera’s internal menu from within the exacqVision client (click images for a larger view):
More Joystick Commands – In addition, additional PTZ commands are now available from PTZ consoles and joysticks, including Menu On/Off, Run Patterns, and Flip.
Proportional PTZ via Mouse – New enhancements have been added for propotional PTZ control of mechanical cameras via a mouse. Graphical feedback appears showing the direction of the mouse. As the mouse moves farther from the center crosshair, the pan-tilt speed increases. This feature has always been available with PTZ joysticks, and is now available with the mouse:
Record Dome Patterns – Dome Patterns can now be recorded from within the exacqVision client. A new Dome Pattern section appears on a right-click of a PTZ camera setup:

Here are some of the features in detail:
New – Mapping Mapping functionality has been fully integrated into the exacqVision user interface. Maps seamlessly co-exist with cameras, and any view or layout can have any combination of cameras and maps. Maps can be imported from a variety of image file sources, and cameras can be easily placed on maps creating custom map views. Maps can be shared among users both on a stand-alone system and across an enterprise deployment Any number of maps can be created and displayed simultaneously.
An additional mapping feature with the exacqVision Enterprise Server Option, also new for 4.0, allows for maps to be nested in a hierarchical format. You could have a high-level map of the country, with nested maps of campus sites located around the country, each of which in turn could have nested maps of buildings, floors, wings, etc. Video and alarm events from lower-level nested maps can “bubble up” to the top level map, giving the user a global view of all alarms and activities across the enterprise deployment.

New – Enterprise Server Option A new option is available with exacqVision 4.0, the Enterprise Server Option. This optional add-on, enabled at the server level, adds unique user administration and server administration functionality useful in an enterprise deployment of many exacqVision servers.
Enterprise user administration functionality included in the Enterprise Server Option include Active Directory integration for organizations with existing Active Directory/LDAP servers; Enterprise User Administration, for easy user administration across the deployment when Active Directory is not desployed, and Multi-Level Mapping, enabling nested, hierarchical maps-within-maps across the deployment.
Any exacqVision server can have the Enterprise Server Option enabled, at time of order or at any point. Enterprise-enabled servers and standard servers can co-exist, and Enterprise Server functionality will be available on the servers that have the Enterprise option.

Active Directory / LDAP Support As part of the new exacqVision Enterprise Server Option, support has been added for Active Directory/LDAP integration. System administrators can now configure exacqVision permissions and privileges for accounts that exist on an Active Directory server. For organizations that have implement Active Directory for user accounts, this enables easy deployment of exacqVision in an enterprise setting, as the user accounts are already created.
Connecting to existing Active Directory servers is straightforward. The exacqVision System Setup page now has an additional “Enterprise” tab for adding the Active Directory server information:

Enterprise User Setup For enterprise deployments that do not employ Active Directory, the new Enterprise User Setup has been added to the exacqVision Enterprise Server Option. The Enterprise User Setup allows for user administration across the exacqVision enterprise. A single entry to create or edit a user profile is made, and then automatically pushed out to all selected servers across the deployment.
exacqVision Webserver 2.0 The latest version of the exacqVision Webserver, which is included at no charge with exacqVision software, incorporates a number of enhancements, including multi-server viewing, multi-camera search and playback, PTZ control, and an updated user interface.
exacqVision Webserver allows the use of fully-featured browser-based thin clients. The browser-based client works on any web browser, no ActiveX needed. The browser-based client also functions fully on any javascript-enabled browser, which includes those on the iPhone and Android mobile phone platforms. Additionally, a Simple mode is available for WAP browsers on basic non-smart phones.
The exacqVision Webserver provides an easy way to view video where deploying a full exacqVision client isn’t practical. Law enforcement can access video streams from school surveillance systems from the laptop in their car; organizations could provide limited camera access to the outside world for clients and customers.
Additionally, because the Webserver transcodes the video in real time, it is extremely useful in restricted-bandwidth connections. The Webserver can scale back the resolution on any camera in real-time, in effect enabling multi-streaming from any camera.

S2 NetBox Integration exacqVision is now supported in the Video Management System for S2 Netbox access control systems. S2 NetBox Version 4.0 Build 376, released in January of 2010 is required, as is the new exacqVision Webserver 2.0. Additionally, the exacqVision OVID driver is needed, available from either the S2 or Exacq websites.
Events handled by S2 NetBox can initiate video recording, change camera telemetry, or pop up video on one of the display monitors. Likewise, exacqVision-initiated events such as motion or video loss can be annunciated on the security system.

American Dynamics AD-RS422 Analog PTZ Protocol Support Support has been added for American Dynamics’ AD-RS422 Analog PTZ Protocol in Version 3.7. This is in addition to the other analog PTZ protocols already supported, including Pelco D/P, GE-Impac, GE-ASCII, Bosch, and Panasonic.

Enhanced Smart Search Smart Search, sometimes referred to as ‘museum search’ functionality, has been substantially enhanced in version 3.6. Smart Search adds quick and detailed granularity to a search result, enabling the viewing, scrubbing, saving and exporting of just the video search information desired. Smart Search works on all cameras: analog or IP, standard or Megapixel.
On the search page, a new “Brain” icon has been added to the toolbar:
With any camera, when Smart Search is selected, a grid appears. Simply use the mouse to fill in the grid of the desired area of the camera view, and Smart Search will quickly find just the video that has changed within the grid area.
The results of the Smart Search then appear as orange in the timeline:

While the Smart Search function is selected, the user can scrub, play forward and reverse, save, and export just the Smart Searched (orange bar) video. Fast and easy, this enhanced functionality enables rapid searching and exporting of just the video information desired.

Multi-System User Configuration New to Version 3.6 is the Enterprise Server option. This new option, enabled per-server, adds functionality unique to user and server management across an enterprise deployment. Multi-System User Configuration is available in Version 3.6 and is the first of several features to be added to the Enterprise Server option. Multi-System User Config enables fast and easy user account management across any number of exacqVision servers.
With the Version 3.6 release a new item, Multi-System User Config, has been included in the server tree on the Configuration page:
Creating a new account, deleting an account or changing an existing account is done quickly just once, and then applied to all selected servers with a single push of a button. This feature works in all enterprise deployments without the need for existing LDAP or Active Directory implementation.
New – Basler IP camera support Support has been added for the entire line of Basler IP cameras. Basler IP cameras range in resolution from VGA to 2 Mpixel, all with day/night models available, and are distinguished by their compact physical size. All Basler IP cameras utilize H.264 compression.
New – IQeye 4-Series IP camera support Adding to our existing support of IQeye cameras, Version 3.6 adds support for the new 4-Series line of low-cost IP cameras from IQeye.
The IQeye 4-Series provides IQeye-quality video, resolutions from VGA to 2 Mpixel, compact, sturdy housings (both standard and dome), Power-Over Ethernet, and a low price point. The 4-Series models supported in exacqVision Version 3.6 include the IQeye 4-Series Standard cameras and the IQeye 4-Series Dome cameras.
PCSC Access Control Integration exacqVision Version 3.6 adds integration support for PCSC Access Control systems. PCSC’s access control system is distinguished by their Fault Tolerant Technology, with redundant host, controllers, and communication. When combined with exacqVision VMS software it makes for a unique, fault tolerant access control and IP video surveillance system under a single user interface. Export to QuickTime Version 3.5 adds the ability to export video clips to QuickTime .mov files. QuickTime export is available in Windows, Linux and Mac versions of the exacqVision client.
QuickTime is the latest addition to the video export capabilities of the exacqVision client. In addition to QuickTime, video came be exported to AVI files as well as stand-alone executable files with an embedded multi-camera exacqVision ePlayer.
New ACTI IP Camera Models A number of new IP cameras from ACTi have been introduced recently, including megapixel H.264 models, and support for these has been added in Version 3.5.
New supported models include the TCM-4301 and ACM-3511. Support has also been added for the ACD-series of multi-channel servers, which includes the ACD-2200, ACD-2300, and ACD-2400.
POS Enhancements Version 3.5 introduces a number of usability enhancements to the live and search POS (Point of Sale) display including:
simplified start and end of transaction
real-time italicizing of the current transaction
Playback Optimization Version 3.5 introduces considerable optimization of real-time forward playback of MPEG4 or H.264 video. This optimization results in more fluid, real-time playback even if a client workstation is unable to keep up with decompression of all frames.

Instant ‘Find Camera’ F3 Function Key A new shortcut Function Key feature has been added to enable instant display of any camera in the enterprise system into any window.
Whether the exacqVision client is operating on a single monitor and connected to a single server, or whether connected to a large enterprise of dozens of servers, and powering many monitors, the new F3 function key provides the ability to quickly select any camera.
Among the many applications of this feature, it is useful when following an individual through a large building, casino or retail store. Replacing the functionality of a Pelco or American Dynamics keypad, this feature allows for quick selection of specific cameras by the operator to enable following the individual. New IP Camera Support A number of new IP camera vendors, and new IP camera models, have been added to the list of supported devices, including new multi-megapixel H.264 models from Arecont and CBC, as well as the new HD megapixel IP camera from Axis:
Canon Support has been added for the latest cameras in the Canon IP camera line, specifically the VB-C50i,VB-C60 and the VB-C500D.
Arecont Vision Support has been added for the new MegaDome H.264 megapixel IP camera line, consisting of models AV1355, AV2155, AV3155 and AV5155. Support has also been added the for the new Panoramic H.264 megapixel IP cameras, the AV8185 and the AV8365.
Axis Support has been added for a number of new Axis H.264 IP cameras, including the new Q1755 HDTV H.264 Megapixel IP camera, the M7001 H.264 video encoder, the M1011, M1011-W and M1031-W small form factor H.264 cameras, and the M3011 and M3014 fixed dome H.264 cameras.
IPX Support has been added for the IPX line of dual-codec MJPEG and MPEG-4 IP cameras, including the IPX-DDK-1500 network box camera, the IPX-DDK-1500D network dome camera, and the IPX-VE-3500 network video encoder.
CBC Ganz Support has been added for the new line of H.264 megapixel IP cameras from CBC Ganz, including the MP1DN, MP2DN, MP3DN and MP5DN. Support has also been added for the dual-codec IP camera models DDK-1500 box camera and DDK-1500D dome camera.

Access Control Integration – DSX Adding to our growing list of access control integration is DSX, with their WinDSX system.
The exacq-WinDSX integration allows stored and live video from the exacqVision servers to be accessed within the DSX software.
Real time video can be automatically displayed in response to alarm events. Live and recorded video can be accessed from the alarm acknowledgement screen or from any input/output or camera icon. Recorded video can be viewed while running a History report. Live and recorded video can be accessed from Alarm Maps though a right-click on an I/O or Camera icon. Live and recorded video can be accessed from the Alarm and Monitor windows through a right-click on a given event. Live and recorded video can be accessed from the Input and Output control screens.

We utilize a Pootle translation server for collaborative localizations, the same method used by software packages such as Firefox, WordPress and OpenOffice. This enables our international partners to have specific localized versions for their markets. With the addition of these four, the total number of localizations so far is 12, with many more under development.

Time Expiry per camera Numerous installations have specific requirements on the maximum number of days that can be stored per camera. Still other installations may have requirements for the minimum number of days a specific camera’s data must be retained.
Version 3.3 adds the ability to assign a maximum number of days of storage on a per-camera basis, and also a minimum number of days of storage on a per-camera basis. This features is accessed on the Storage Setup page.
Ioimage Video Analytics Support Version 3.3 adds support for the ioimage line of IP cameras and encoders with integrated video analytics. ioimage devices embed the analytics capability “at the edge”, within the camera or encoder. Included with each ioimage device is a host of analytic functions, detailed here.
By incorporating the analytics in the camera, adding analytic functionality is as simple as adding another IP camera, and does not require any additional software or hardware to be installed on the server.
Analytic routine configuration is done through each IP camera’s browser page. Once configured, exacqVision reads the analytic alarm information in the same way as motion detection information is read. Through the event linking function of exacqVision, any ioimage alarm can be mapped to any user-defined activity on exacqVision, such as record-on-alarm, alarm e-mail generation, video output switch at a monitoring station, and more.
Models supported in Version 3.3 are the wdc100dn IP camera, the mmp100dn megapixel IP camera, the xptz100dn PTZ IP camera, and the entire trk Series encoders.
International Language Support Support for a number of languages has been added, including German, Polish, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Japanese, and Chinese. Many additional localizations are in process.

IP Camera Enhancements & Additions
StarDot Support Added Support has been added for the NetCam SC and NetCam XL line of hybrid, IP, and megapixel IP cameras from Stardot.
Arecont IP Camera Plug-in Improvements, New Cameras The Arecont Vision megapixel IP camera plug-in has been completely rewritten. Supports both JPEG and H.264 cameras; TFTP enhancements for higher framerates; improved “smart search” capability; and enhanced input trigger processing. Support has also been added for the new H.264 MegaDome line, the AV1355, AV2155, AV3155, and AV5155.
ACTi IP Camera Plug-in Improvements, New Cameras ACTi PTZ responsiveness has been substantially improved in Version 3.3. In addition, support has been added for the ACTi ACM-8511 and ACM-8211/8201 series of IP PTZ cameras.
Panasonic 4-channel IP Encoder Support Added Support has been added for the Panasonic WJ-NT304 4-input MPEG4/MJPEG encoder. The up-the-coax feature of this encoder makes it particularly attractive for connecting to legacy analog PTZ cameras.
Axis HDTV IP Camera Support Added Support has been added for the Axis Q1755 HDTV H.264 IP camera. Full 16×9 resolution is supported.
Integration Integration has been completed with exacqVision for access control systems from Lenel (more info here), DSX, RS-2, PCSC and ICT (application story here) and for the Micros/DataVanatage XBR retail analytics package. Contact us for projects requiring this integration.

H.264 IP Camera Support Recently both Axis and Arecont Vision announced sweeping new additions to their IP camera lines. In both cases, support for H.264 video compression was a primary technical feature in the new models. H.264 is emerging as the standard for video compression in video surveillance, due to its high video quality, low file size and reduced bandwidth requirements.
Arecont Vision Arecont recently added H.264 versions to their entire line-up of IP megapixel cameras. The new H.264 compression-based models that are now shipping are the AV1305 (1.3 MP), AV2105 (2 MP), AV3105 (3 MP), and the AV5105 (5 MP). exacqVision 3.2 supports these new models, and with their H.264 compression we’re seeing up to a 10x average image file size reduction, faster frame rates, and lower server CPU requirements when compared with the similar Arecont MJPEG-based models.
(Update: This week at the Security 2008 tradeshow in Essen, Germany, Arecont announced H.264 versions of their panoramic cameras: the AV-8185 and the AV-8365. No release date was set, but we expect to be supporting them when they do begin to ship).
Axis Communications Axis recently announced a complete revamping of their product line, based on using H.264 as the primary compression standard. Over the next few months they will be releasing a broad range of products to replace the current product line. Several models have already been announced and have begun to ship, including the P3301 and P3301V network cameras and the Q7401 encoder. Several additional announced models will be coming out in the coming weeks. This new Axis IP camera line uses a common API, and exacqVision 3.2 supports the entire new product line. With these new cameras we’re seeing up to a 2x average image file size reduction over the similar MPEG-4 models, with very good image quality.
Sony Megapixel IP Camera Support Sony also recently announced new additions to their IP camera lineup, including three megapixel IP models: the SNC-DM110, the SNC-CM120 and the SMC-DM160, and two new minidome IP models: the SNC-DS10 and the SNC-DS60. exacqVision 3.2 supports this entire new “fourth-generation” IP camera product line from Sony.
ePlayer enhancement The exacqVision ePlayer is a feature-rich portable player that can be embedded with exported video for use by law enforcement or others. It offers many of the features of the exacqVision client, including multiple camera views, digital zoom, video authentication, additional export of video clips and still images.. exacqVision 3.2 adds additional video channel information. A right-click on any video window displays the entire properties of that video clip, including camera type, resolution, compression format, total number of images, average image size, time length, and total percent of motion. In the case of MPEG-4 or H.264, additional information is displayed on the various key frames in the clip.
Proportional Pan & Tilt using USB Joystick exacqVision 3.2 now supports proportional Pan and Tilt using USB video surveillance joystick controllers like the Axis 295. Using the capabilities of the joysticks, the harder you move the stick the faster the the pan and tilt occur.

Definable User Permissions & Privileges We’ve added the often-requested ability to define custom user classes, defining each user class with incremental permissions and privileges. This is a significant expansion of user privilege definition over our previous default user classes of Power User, User, Restricted User, etc.
In 3.1, the administrator can now create any number of user classes, each with its own specific permissions and privileges for things such as live viewing capabilities, searching capabilities, saving images, exporting video, smart search, etc. Below are screen shots of the new Users screen, showing the addition of the Custom User Permission and Custom User Privilege sections.
Enhanced Multi-Camera Search Multi-camera search and viewing has been made even easier. In 3.1, any combination of cameras can be selected for search and playback, and the client will automatically bring up a view to accommodate all of the selected cameras. It is not necessary to define a view first. Our software engineer Jim Bauerle gives a brief demonstration of this capability in this YouTube video clip:
Arecont Vision 8180 & 8360 Motion Detection Arecont Vision has recently updated the firmware for their AV8180 and AV8360 panoramic cameras. This new firmware revision now fully supports motion detection at the camera, and exacqVision 3.1 supports this new firmware and motion detection capability.
To utilize motion detection on the 8180 and 8360 the cameras must be running Arecont firmware version 64118 or newer. This firmware is available directly from Arecont Vision or you can request it from Exacq Support.
Enhanced Audio Export Audio export has been enhanced to allow both G.711 and ADPCM compressed audio to be exported to AVI files along with the video. ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) is the audio format used on the analog inputs of our eDVR video compression boards in the Hybrid Servers, and G.711 is the audio format used by Axis in their IP cameras with integrated audio audio.
POS/ATM Display Enhancements New in 3.1 is the ability to display POS and ATM data in real-time along with video playback, and have it scroll through the transactions along with the video.
New vertical scrollbars allow for both fast scrubbing through the POS/ATM tape display with the video playback advancing or reversing right in sync, or the normal horizontal bar that allows for the fast scrubbing through the playback video, with the POS/ATM data tape scrolling up or down right in sync.
Ubuntu 8.04 Linux Support We’ve added support for the latest 8.04 distribution of Ubuntu. This newer distribution adds support for the latest motherboards and processors. exacqVision now supports both 6.06 and 8.04 releases, which are the two Ubuntu LTS (Long Term Support) releases.
