The SecurityDreamer blog hosted a by-invitation-only seminar yesterday at ISC West entitled The Future of Video Surveillance. Steve Hunt, of Hunt Business Intelligence, and proprietor of the SecurityDreamer blog, chose 32 vendors exhibiting at ISC to highlight as having unique technology, products and market approach. Steve talks about the seminar here and here.
Exacq Technologies was one of the 32 companies highlighted yesterday. An annotated walking tour show floor map was given to the 60 attendees with questions to ask or products to view at each of the featured companies. From the intro on the handout:
SecurityDreamer appreciates those who make waves in the industry. We recognize companies that are constantly challenging themselves and creating a competitive landscape. This year we thought we’d put our opinions to good use. Among the vendors in the video surveillance arena, we’ve chosen some that deserve extra attention.
What were our criteria? First of all, no money changed hands. We selected companies we’ve heard of and in most cases have first-hand experience with. In some cases we know the customers. In others we’ve spent time with the executive team. The products we chose all use computers, software and networking in creative and forward-thinking ways. Every company has a product or customer success story that stands out. Above all every company has a product or a service that the Hunt BI team feels creates a better future for the surveillance industry.
We are flattered and certainly appreciative that Exacq was chosen as one of the highlighted companies in this seminar. We were in great company; other vendors chosen included IQinVision, ioimage, Axis, Cisco, Intransa, among others. We enjoyed meeting many of the seminar attendees who made their way to our booth yesterday, and we look forward to meeting even more today.
Our sincere thanks to Steve Hunt and the SecurityDreamer blog team for this recognition.

We’re a mere two weeks away from the start of the ISC West tradeshow in Las Vegas (April 2-4). This show has been our launching pad for major new features the last two years, and this year is no different.
At our booth this year - same location on the show floor as last year - we’ll be showing our complete line of exacqVision NVR Hybrid and NVR video surveillance servers with the exacqVision VMS software. NEW products and features at our booth will include:
- Mac Client - A true native Macintosh exacqVision client, looks and functions just like the Windows and Linux clients. Three native platforms, and all can work and interoperate together.
- Browser & Mobile Client - exacqVision servers can now be accessed through browsers and mobile devices
- New Storage Options - New iSCSI and Fibre Channel storage options from a variety of vendors
- New IP Camera support - Support for the latest IP cameras from Axis, Arecont Vision, IQeye, Panasonic, ACTi, Sony and others.
- New exacqVision API - Integration with third party devices such as access control and others.
If you’re going to be at ISC West, stop by our booth #6049. Free registration for ISC West is here.

We’re in the Security Operations Center (SOC) Pavilion at the combined ISC East / InfoSecurity shows in New York this week. The SOC Pavilion showcases the convergence of IT security and Physical Security, and is being organized by IPVS Magazine.
We’re showcasing the exacqVision IP video surveillance software, connected to many IP cameras in the Pavilion from Axis and other vendors. We’re using just a laptop as our server at this station. Since we take advantage of intelligence at the edge devices, such as motion detection at the camera end, our processor requirements at the server end are low, enabling more reliable and lower cost servers.
ISC East continues through Wednesday. If you’re attending the show, please stop by. Info on ISC East is here.

The first two days of the ISC West 2007 show are over. We have never had as busy of a booth as we have had here. It has been gratifying to see what an enthusiastic sales channel we have. Our Manufacturers Reps have been actively bringing their Resellers by, our Resellers have been actively bringing their customers by. New business and deals have been closed at this show. There is excitement and buzz about the exacqVision product line. It has been particularly exciting to see the interactivity between our customers and our engineers, as new features and unique applications for the products have been suggested and discussed. So much of what is in the exacqVision product has been customer driven, and we’ve already slated some of these suggestions to be in the next release, Version 2.5, which will probably hit in May.
We have also been busy meeting with current and new IP camera vendors, video analytic vendors, wireless video networking vendors. We will certainly be supporting more of these new products in the near future.
On Wednesday night we hosted an exacqVision Reseller Partner Appreciation Gathering at the Gordon Biersch Brewery. It was a great informal gathering of our Reps, Resellers and prospective Resellers. Many we knew well, some we met for the first time. We certainly appreciate everyone that came and spent the evening with us.
Below are some pictures from the show floor. Additional pictures are on our flickr photo page.
