We just returned from Birmingham, England, the site of IFSEC 2007. With over 28,000 attendees and 700 exhibitors from all over the globe, IFSEC is one of the premier security industry trade events in the world.
The exacqVision IP system was on display at the Amplicon booth located in the IP & Networked Solutions product feature area. The entire show floor (including the Amplicon booth) was very well attended, proving the interest in IP video surveillance solutions continues to soar.
In addition to seeing some of our European integrators in person, we were also able to meet with some of our world-wide integration partners including Axis, Arecont Vision, IQeye and ACTi. Moreover, we made contact with security system decisionmakers from some of the largest companies in the UK and all of Europe.
Our thanks to our UK partner Amplicon for doing a great job in showcasing our exacqVision IP video surveillance solutions at IFSEC.

We participated in the IPVS Magazine booth and conferences at the Interop Las Vegas event at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center this week. IP Video Surveillance Magazine (IPVS) gathered together leading vendors representing what they refer to as the 5ive-S Reference Architecture of IP video surveillance: Surveillance, Switches, Servers, Software and Storage
exacqVision IP software and servers were on display in the booth, connected to a large number of IP cameras from Axis and Canon, connected together by switches from Foundry Networks. Lumenera and Covi were also showing their hi-res multi-megapixel IP cameras. As we have increasingly seen, the IT managers and integrators that came by to speak with us are now being asked to spec and implement video surveillance in addition to defining and implementing the data and telecommunications networks. The ease of use in deploying products like exacqVision IP software and Axis IP cameras fortunately makes this task fairly straightforward.
Keven Marier, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of IPVS Magazine, led two sessions over the course of the show. On Tuesday, he moderated a panel discussion entitled The Future of IP Video Security: Defining the New Role of IT. With video surveillance rapidly migrating to IP, it is a growing concern for IP professionals who, until now, have not had to manage the physical security of their organization. Keven and the panel discussed the the higher-quality of physical security delivered by IP systems over analog CCTV systems and the various key components necessary to successfully deploy IP video surveillance systems.
On Wednesday, Keven led an all-day-long workshop entitled Introduction to IP Video Security with in-depth discussions and demonstrations of the 5ive-S key interoperable components of and IP video security system, and discussed video security technology, the key interoperability touch points, and cost benefits.
Our thanks To Keven and his IPVS crew at the show: Melissa, Mark, Eric and Brian, for putting together yet another great tradeshow booth and relevant educational sessions. We also want to extend our appreciation to the other participants in the booth for their help in making this a great collaborative experience: Fredrik Nilsson and Steve Lewis of Axis, John Recesso of Lumenera, Chalon Dilber of Covi, Ricardo Chen of Canon, and Val Oliva of Foundry Networks.

We recently sponsored SDM Magazine’s 2nd Annual SDM Gala 100 held at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel in the Walt Disney World resort in Central Florida.
This event brings together many of the nation’s largest security integrators. With the rising popularity of the exacqVision product line, many of these top dealers are already Authorized exacqVision Resellers–and many more will be soon.

Continuing on with our busiest month ever of tradeshows, we’d like to bring two major shows to your attention that are occurring next week.
At over 28,000 attendees and over 700 exhibitors, IFSEC, held May 21-24, 2007, at the NEC Brimingham in the United Kingdom, has become one of the world’s largest trade shows on physical security. We’ll be there with our exacqVision IP systems in the Amplicon booth (#18182), our UK partner.
Interop, held May 22-24, 2007, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, is the premier IT technology and business conference, with over 400 exhibitors. We’ll be there with our exacqVision IP software connected to a network of Axis cameras in the IPVS Magazine booth (#407).
If you’re attending either one of these shows, please come by and see us.

With the release of exacqVision 2.5 we recently ventured to the 4th installment of IP-In-Action LIVE held at the Pasadena Conference Center. As an Affiliate Member of the IP User Group USA, Exacq Technologies participates in these events to show how powerful, yet easy, IP video surveillance can be with the exacqVision line of NVR solutions. We also use it as an opportunity to network with some of our strategic IP camera partners like Arecont Vision (making their first appearance at IP-In-Action LIVE), ACTi, Panasonic, IQeye, Sony and Axis.
The event was, by far, the best attended IP-In-Action show to date. Attendees included security system integrators, IT professionals, consultants, manufacturers and security system end-users from a variety of locations.

We’ve just returned from the PSA-TEC conference, put on by the PSA Security Network. This annual event serves as a technology presentation and training gathering for PSA Integrator Members and Vendor Partners. We were pleased to participate in our first PSA-TEC as one of the new PSA Vendors.
We had a booth in the exhibit hall, showing our exacqVision IP software and servers, connected to a variety of IP cameras, as well as a connection to remote servers. We had a chance to talk to a large number of the PSA dealers over the course of the day, many of whom are already actively selling our products.
Our thanks to Jennifer Martin and the whole gang at PSA Security Network for putting on a great technology and educational event for their members.

Update 5-12-07: Greg McConnell of Security Dealer was at the PSA-TEC show and posted this excellent review of the events.

New View Tours allow for touring through a list of Views, with user-defined dwell time on each View
- View Enhancements
Enhanced features in Views allow for saving of audio channels, digital zoom and pan settings, and POS/ATM overlays
- Enhanced exacqRecall
User defined export sources, start and end times greatly enhance the ease of use of the exacqRecall button
Improvements
- Consolidation of IP camera configuration pages
- Faster server log search with lower CPU usage
- Added support for Sony SNC-DF50N and SNC-DF80N IP cameras
- Audio capture from ACTi IP cameras
Fixes
- Fixes for a number of minor issues, including issues with some ATI and Intel VGA devices; IP Camera Finder and IQeye cameras; error handling from SMTP servers; start and stop events from POS/ATM profiles; and more. A complete list of fixes is in the readme.txt file that accompanies the file download.
The latest versions of exacqVision client and exacqVision server can be easily installed on top of existing versions while retaining all of the previous user-defined settings.

One of the familiar sights around Exacq is the engineers engaging in “extreme programming,” where they get together in a room with their laptops, and with multiple exacqVision servers fully loaded with analog and IP cameras, alarm inputs and outputs and POS/ATM connections, and hammer out all of the remaining issues before a new public release of the software.
As we get ready to release Version 2.5 of exacqVision, TJ, Dan, Jim, Mark, Matthew, Sean, Brian, and others have been working away cleaning up all of the remaining issues identified in the beta releases and release candidates. We make sure there is plenty of pizza and Diet Coke to keep them going.
Some pictures from Wednesday are below, and there are more on our flickr photo page.
