ExacqVision and AXIS IP Cameras
Among many of the key design goals we set for exacqVision there were three that were directly related to cameras:
- Camera-source Independence:
exacqVision must seamlessly merge analog cameras and IP cameras. - Compression Independence:
exacqVision must seamlessly merge different compression formats, such as MPEG-4 and M-JPEG. - Resolution Independence:
exacqVision must seamlessly merge video sources of all different resolutions, from standard CIF to D1 to D4 and megapixel cameras.
We achieved all of these objectives and the resultant ability to merge video sources, types and resolutions makes the exacqVision platform very powerful.
We chose to support the entire line of Axis Communication IP cameras for our product release. Axis has a wide variety of IP cameras in fixed, indoor/outdoor and PTZ/dome, in various resolutions and configurations. The 206 supports 640×480 with Motion-JPEG. The 206M is a megapixel 1280×1024 with Motion-JPEG. The 207 series adds MPEG-4 support and one model is available in a wireless configuration. Outdoor and PTZ/Dome cameras add automatic day/night configuration and multiple compression formats. Axis also offers video servers that enable analog cameras to be used over the network.
ExacqVision supports the entire line of Axis cameras, and an exacqVision system can easily mix a variety of analog and IP cameras, with a variety of resolutions, frame rates and compression formats.
